ASHRAE Staff Gives Back to Atlanta!

2017 Event: Lifecycle Building Center

Five members of ASHRAE's staff recently spent an morning upcycling used building materials with Lifecycle Building Center to help reduce construction waste and save valuable resources as part of ASHRAE's sustainable mission.

Since beginning operations in 2011, LBC has diverted over 2.2 million pounds of building materials from landfills and saved the community over $1.4 million through deep discounts on material purchases, avoided disposal costs and the donation of free building materials to over 90 nonprofit organizations.

2016 Event: Trees Atlanta

ASHRAE staff recently spent a afternoon weeding, mulching and watering newly planted native trees with Trees Atlanta to help maintain green space in the Adair Park area southwest of downtown Atlanta.

The effort ties in with ASHRAE’s mission to serve humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and their allied fields in addition to exemplifying its core values of commitment and volunteerism.

Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating.
